Republic Services is picking up leaves in the city of Vermilion, according to Mayor Forthofer.

Leaves must be in bio-degradable yard waste bags and placed upright at the curb on your regular weekly waste pick up day. There is no limit to the number of bags you may set out per week.

“Residents may also place leaves in a 32 gallon plastic can, not to exceed 40 lbs., clearly marked Yard Waste or YW,” stated the mayor. “Small branches must be in bundles not to exceed 4 feet long.”

The mayor says not to rake leaves into the street. It clogs storm drains. The City does not have a leaf vacuum service.

“Last pick up is probably Wednesday November 27th,” said Mayor Forthofer. “I'll let you know closer to the date. Happy raking!”
