Mayor Forthofer reports that the City of Vermilion is going out to bid for contractors to replace Highbridge Road from the Bridge to Brownhelm Station Road. Bidding is expected to be complete by April. Construction will start this summer, according to the mayor.
This project is being funded in part by the Ohio Public Works Commission.
“This street replacement is long overdue,” stated Mayor Forthofer.
At the Streets, Buildings & Grounds Committee Meeting of February 10, 2020, Chris Howard, City Engineer, conveyed that Highbridge Road is an OPWC Project that was awarded to the City last year. They would like to put the project out to bid to get better prices.
Howard advised Council they would need to authorize the administration to put this project out to bid. He said they will receive bid results by April.
“This project is south of the bridge to Brownhelm Station Road,” stated Howard.
He said the City received a grant for $475,000.
Council Member Brian Holmes stated the north end is getting bad too. Howard said they are starting somewhere.
Council approved the motion.
